It was her place after Katie published lies about her. She gave her a choice 5 grand to charity or an expensive lawsuit.

I think that the demand for five grand to go to charity was a bit premature. Why not just tell Katie that she got the wrong person and ask her to correct her tweet before issuing demands?

Hopkins hatefilled screeds cause untold damage to migrants. Getting her to chuck 5grand to a migrants charity was the mimimum that she should have been demanded to do.

What did that have to do with Jack though?

Jack wanted justice for what Katie had done to her - an apology and money for a cause she believes in (and one that Katie has made a lifelong mission to destroy) was poetic justice.

Legal costs. You have to go through a lot of Courts before you get to the top one. I guess that she could try for the ECJ but that would pile up even more potential costs and make appear to be a tad hypocritical...
