You (Americans) seem to think nowhere else has freedom. You have no idea how the rest of the world lives, just have the propaganda about 'fighting for freedom' and 'bringing freedom and democracy to x country'. I suppose we can cross roads anywhere without being arrested for jay walking and don't have to give our social security number to the police when asked nor produce ID to vote. We don't have to register the party we intend to vote for before voting either.

They were arrested (but released) on possible public order offences - not freedom of speech or lack of it.

Social security numbers are not used for identification and at least in Texas, we don't register by party.

In fact, you don't have to show a cop anything unless he can articulate reasonable suspicion as to why he wants to know who you are.

You do need to show some form of ID to vote and rent a book at the library.
