Tory MP resigns over Brexit and calls for a new vote

Minister Jo Johnson quits over Brexit and calls for new vote

Boris Johnsons brother, Jo, has resigned as transport minister and called for the public to have a fresh say on Brexit. He said the withdrawal deal currently being negotiated with the European Union "will be a terrible mistake".

Arguing Britain was "on the brink of the greatest crisis" since World War Two, he said what was on offer wasn't "anything like what was promised".

Principles and common sense from a Tory MP are very rare qualities..but admirable.

If the truth is self evident to members of the Johnson family (including his ex-wife to be) it must be similarly obvious to vast swathes of people, including those who voted leave.

Like many families, Brexit has split the Johnsons as his sister Rachel campaigned for Remain. It's worth remembering the pro-Remain draft Boris wrote before dumping Dave and fancying his chances of glory, which when it came, he ran off!!

Ask yourself: despite all the defects and disappointments of this exercise - do you really, truly, definitely want Britain to pull out of the EU ? Britain is a great nation, a global force for good. It is surely a boon for the world and for Europe that she should be intimately engaged in the EU. This is a market on our doorstep, ready for further exploitation by British firms: the membership fee seems rather small for all that access.

Why are we so determined to turn our back on it?
Shouldn't our policy be like our policy on cake - pro having it and pro eating it? Pro Europe and pro the rest of the world?

Are we all supposed to be impressed by this and forget his voting record?
So sick of politicians making these grand gestures & pretending it's because they care about the country. He's saving his arse like the rest of his Tory family & collegues always do.

Farage is more Napoleon III rather than the original

It's a work in progress. I'm thinking Gove for Robespierre and Boris is Danton.

Also today, Gordon Brown is calling for a vote
Is he also "making these grand gestures & pretending it's because they care about the country?" or is he "saving his arse like the rest of his Labour family & collegues always do"?

Yes just have another vote and that will be the end of the matter

Remainers are so out-of-touch and tone deaf they remind me of Charles I and Louis XVI.
