What are you talking about? It’s often quoted in assignments to gain more marks.
Did Monte Python ever use any of these in their comedy sketches or movies?
racism, sexism, classism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, xenophobia, Islamophobia or anti-religion or anti-theism.
Possibly all of it. They were banned in their time, or had a massive campaign to ban the film ‘Life of Brian’. Now considered a classic of British comedy.
I know the movie was banned in some places. For the same silly reason that comedians can t perform at this university. Someone may be offended.
Well then you’ve finally answered your own question ‘since when is art banned?’ Like I said, it’s always been banned when it offends. The university’s are just doing what’s always been done.
Of course offensive things should be banned up to a point. And in this instance i would agree with the banning.
But for your info that is a COMPLETELY different situation than what is going on en masse in american universities where conservative main stream opinions are getting shut up and shut down because they the majority of profs and admins are flamingly liberal.
This is happening with google, facebook etc as well. They are saying some speech is offensive to cover their butts--But in reality there is much more offensive speech on the left which is left alone and not banned on these sites which sprouts from the left.
Google is getting massively sued and they will face a day of reckoning. When the public's opinions are tamped down by THE FEW or THE ONE SIDE then trouble will be brewing . See France. See the USA where massive christian groups as well as non christian groups and conservative groups are going after the big tech companies for their criminal behavior.
Again--A university should be able to censor offensive or criminal behavior if they wish. But the censoring seems to happen disproportionately to one side
