Texas School Speech Pathologist Refused to Sign a Pro-Israel Oath, Now Mandatory in Many States — so She Lost Her Job

A children’s speech pathologist who has worked for the last nine years with developmentally disabled, autistic, and speech-impaired elementary school students in Austin, Texas, has been told that she can no longer work with the public school district, after she refused to sign an oath vowing that she “does not” and “will not” engage in a boycott of Israel or “otherwise tak[e] any action that is intended to inflict economic harm” on that foreign nation. A lawsuit on her behalf was filed early Monday morning in a federal court in the Western District of Texas, alleging a violation of her First Amendment right of free speech.

The child language specialist, Bahia Amawi, is a U.S. citizen who received a master’s degree in speech pathology in 1999 and, since then, has specialized in evaluations for young children with language diffic.................

This required certification about Israel was the only one in the contract sent to Amawi that pertained to political opinions and activism. There were no similar clauses relating to children (such as a vow not to advocate for pedophiles or child abusers), nor were there any required political oaths that pertained to the country of which she is a citizen and where she lives and works: the United States.

In order to obtain contracts in Texas, then, a citizen is free to denounce and work against the United States, to advocate for causes that directly harm American children, and even to support a boycott of particular U.S. states, such as was done in 2017 to North Carolina in protest of its anti-LGBT law. In order to continue to work, Amawi would be perfectly free to engage in any political activism against her own country, participate in an economic boycott of any state or city within the U.S., or work against the policies of any other government in the world — except Israel.

WATCH THE FILM THE ISRAEL LOBBY DIDN'T WANT YOU TO SEE

phpBB [video]

Watch final episodes of Al Jazeera film on US Israel lobby

https://electronicintifada.net/content/ ... obby/25896

The Lobby-USA

https://electronicintifada.net/tags/lobby-usa

This has to be watched to understand why so many people are derided as anti Semites, Conspiracy Theorists or are defamed in other ways when they so much as question Israel. The US version is all about AIPAC and how student support for Palestinians is crushed using state power, the Israeli state. Also confirms how a foreign government spies on the public, collects data and operates with total free will in the US, against all laws that others not only have to abide by but are prosecuted for. (Russia, Russia, Russia)

The Lobby-UK

https://www.aljazeera.com/investigations/thelobby/

Not just the US but here too.

Another conspiracy theory becomes conspiracy fact...but don't expect the mainliners to even acknowledge it let alone accept it...

In Sheldon Adelson, Far Right Israel Hits the Jackpot

A bet on Donald Trump for president may have seemed risky two years ago. But for billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, the payout has been spectacular.

The 85-year-old and his wife Miriam gave $82 million to Republicans and candidate Trump in 2016, and within two years watched their man execute two major Adelson asks: moving the U.S. embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, and withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal.

This was accomplished in consultation with Adelson comprador John Bolton, who in December 2016 promised members of the American Friends of Beit El that Trump would not only move the embassy—declaring Jerusalem the true capital of Israel—but that he would not oppose any Jewish settlement expansion in the West Bank territories. Adelson is also credited with opening the door for Bolton’s appointment to national security adviser in March.Meanwhile, Adelson has enjoyed a direct line to Trump, speaking with him in person and on the phone at least once a month. Most recently Adelson was able to convince the president to cut off U.S. aid to Palestinian refugees living in crowded, dirty, and unrelentingly hopeless refugee camps outside Israel. Around the same time, Trump withdrew $25 million in assistance from impoverished East Jerusalem hospitals that also serve Palestinian cancer patients allowed in from the West Bank and Gaza for treatment.

Of course, Adelson’s pro-Zionist agenda, which includes expanding the settlements as far as they can go—most recently pouring his money into a huge new Israeli medical university on one of those settlements—is in sync with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud party. It’s been a great year for all involved.

But Russia spent some $4000 odd dollars on adverts and changed the course of the election....

Saw this the other day. Bizarre case. Me thinks the Pflugerville ISD is going to lose this in court. Can't even figure out what prompted this? Was this contract customized for her because of her ethnicity, or have teachers becoming anti Israel while teaching become a big problem in Pflugerville?

Did a little more research. She's a contractor, not an employee. As a contractor, she can be boycotted just as she can boycott Israel. States often boycott services from contractors that engage in activities they don't agree with.

I rescind my first comment. I thought she was an employee of the school district. She probably won't win this case, but who knows. The courts are known to make it up as they go.

I'm against people losing their civil rights. She is free to protest and boycott Israel all she wants, so her rights are intact.

I think this is sorta silly, but I'm never surprised at the silly laws passed by any government, including the state of Texas.

You have told us very, very often that all schools districts are a part of the government - and are all ruled from Washington - indeed in another thread you assert that non-binding guidelines are an affront to doctors but when 'The Government' - a school district - infringes a person's right to free speech by requiring them to state a view they do not hold you're fine with it - another example of your right wing hypocrisy

School districts are run locally, but have to abide by certain state and federal guidelines if they want the funding. I know what I say and hardly need you telling me.

Again, a school district or a state can boycott certain contractors, just as they can boycott people or countries.

Work as a contractor is not a civil rights issue.

So hang on - guidelines are guidelines and need not be followed it there isn't a profit motive

that's for copy and paste to another thread where you have been lying your hypocritical ass off

This is for here

You don't mind when the Government suppresses free speech as long as it's for foreign power.

CJ, you got banned for your obsessive posting at Maddog to the point of making the forum damn near unreadable and yet all these years later you're unbanned and straight back to the same obsessive posting. I predict it won't be long before it's the rubber room again for you.

I think the ban was more for his insistence that ATX was me. He eventually attacked the mods when he was explained numerous times that we were in fact different posters, and he needed to chill out.
