You may have seen a few reports recently about Mick Mulvaney, President Donald Trump‘s pick for new acting chief of staff, publicly blasting the President during the election campaign. Well, here comes another one!
CNN’s KFILE has uncovered audio of an interview then-congressman Mulvaney gave in late summer 2015, in which he was asked about Trump’s rhetoric about immigration and the border.
He said to a certain degree he understands the appeal to emotion, “but to just say ‘build the darn fence’ and have that be the end of an immigration discussion is absurd and almost childish for someone running for president to take that simplistic a view.”
At one point Mulvaney even said, “I wonder who is more interested in going around the Constitution in order to get things done: Barack Obama or Donald Trump.”
Since the announcement last week, other reports have uncovered past comments of Mulvaney calling Trump a “terrible human being” and saying that in an ordinary universe he would be disqualified from the presidency. Trump, unsurprisingly, has reportedly been furious at Mulvaney behind the scenes over all this.
