Oversaw being the operative word, not necessarily the cause.

Generally, the highest inflation rates were in in the mid to late 1970's when a Labour government was in power. I'm old enough to remember this personally.

For a start the highest inflation under Thatcher was 21.91% in May 1980 (and she'd only been in government for a year so most of the blame for that goes Labour's way).

It was over 25% for 7 months in 1975 and higher than the Thatcher figure for another 3 months in 1975/ 1976.
