Party politics can so easily lead to football terrace mentality for its participants. At this moment in time "country before party" needs to be more than a slogan.

I agree.

I apologise for having no sense of humour whatsoever about this at this time.

Nationalism is a pox

It is - I will rephrase - "the people before party".

austerity is the liberal code word for "we dont want to to pay our fcking bills".Thereis such a thing as not bankrupting yourselves while at the same time trying to grow the economy.

The liberals(modern day ones) want govt to spend more and raise taxes to pay for it...accomplishing very nice things for themselves.No1 creating a dependant class that will keep voting you in.No2 hurting the economy so these social services are more and more needed. No3 creating a popular campaign slogan calling anyone who wants to reign in social spending an ogre and sharply calling for more taxation to those who they claim are rich but really aren't.

Austerity is all about reducing the public sector and handing it over to the private sector. That means taking from the poor to give to the rich. It means running down public services or ending them completely. It means leaving people with nothing and forcing them in to low paid temporary work or worse.

It's a neoliberal ideology to pass more public funds to private pockets under the guise of 'need' brought about by the collapse of existing arrangements be defunding them.

The May led Tory party are shite and the alternative with Comrade Corbyn in charge doesn't bear thinking about, so thanks for the reminder that the LibDems are around -- I think I might vote for them.
