The govt barges in like they own them and try to ruin their lives for no specifically mentioned reason.The storm troopers come in and tell people they need to vacate their land ,tear down structures etc.
And for made up reasons that are laughable---like neighbor complaints.Neighbors who live a mile away or more.
This happens a lot on california in similar ways with govt bureaucrats(who make 6 figures per year with 6 figure pensions) ruining the lives of hard working simple people for
a million different reasons.

They own their land. But if a government entity says you must spend 100K to being your property up to a new code, that never existed, they can be fined for non compliance. Eventually, the government can take your land if you don't comply and or pay the fine.

This is where these people are now. They are being harassed for living on their own land, in a manner they have for decades. No doubt, the county has plans for this land that will result in a great deal more tax revenue for the county. There could be a city trying to annex this land too, and they will want these people gone.

I always thought there was a very easy solution/compromise for eminent domain. You let the people who have the real estate clean up/hit the lottery when they have to move.pay them 5 or 10x the value of the land.It is still a drop in the bucket for the mega investment that is gonna create something there.
