“LARGEST LAND GRAB SINCE 1948” — ISRAEL TO EXPEL 36,000 PALESTINIANS FROM NEGEV

According to an Israeli media report, the Israeli government has completed work on a massive, far-reaching plan that would expel an estimated 36,000 Palestinians from “unrecognized” villages in the Negev Desert. If the plan is approved by the Knesset, Israel’s legislative body, its implementation could begin as soon as this year and would take four years to complete. News of the plan was first published by Israel Hayom – Israel’s largest Hebrew-language newspaper, funded by Sheldon Adelson, the top donor to both U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The plan — compiled by Uri Ariel, Israel’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and his staff — features the seizure of an estimated 260,00 dunams(64,247 acres) from Palestine’s Bedouins. The size of the territory in question and the high number of Palestinians set to be affected has led some to call the plan the largest “land grab” of Palestinian-inhabited land since 1948, when the state of Israel was founded.

Israel Hayom’s report stated that, per the new plan, the Palestinian villages would be demolished and the ruins of their homes would then become the sites of “national projects,” infrastructure projects, and “security” installations after the forcible “transfer” of the land’s current inhabitants to other “state-approved” settlements such as Tel Sheva, Abu Talul and Umm Batin. The report noted that a major motivation behind the plan’s creation was the transfer of an arms-industry factory from another part of Israel to the Negev, as well as the expansion of the “Trans-Israel Highway” system.

Furthermore, the plan involves calling for a budget increase to boost the presence of law enforcement officials involved in the forcible “transfer” and in the demolition of Palestinian villages.

The world is going to sit by and allow this?

Other than Human Rights Watch (featured in article) where is the condemnation from the west? Any other nation and all hell breaks loose. Iraq, Libya, Syria, Iran, Russia, China, but Israel and suddenly barbaric behaviour and breaking international law is fine. :thud:

Yeah the world is going to sit by and do nothing and say little.
People are too afraid to criticize them let alone doing anything more concrete.

As Malaysia and Ireland Find Out, You Stand Up for Palestinian Rights at Your Peril

In a move consistent with the Palestinian call for boycott, divestment and sanctions, BDS, against Israel, the Malaysian government has refused entry visas to athletes representing Israel in the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships that were slated to be held in Sarawak, Malaysia this July. As might be expected, the Malaysian government has come under severe attack as a result of this move and has, in fact, been stripped of the of the right to host the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships altogether. The move to punish Malaysia was made by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Ireland too has shown that it is serious about supporting the rights of the Palestinian people. According to a report in the Middle East Monitor, the Irish lower house of parliament passed what is officially known as the Control of Economic Activity (Occupied Territories) Bill, which penalizes anyone importing or selling goods or services originating in the Golan Heights, East Jerusalem or West Bank settlements. In response, the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, canceled a planned visit by Israeli parliamentarians to Ireland. Furthermore, according to the Irish Examiner, the passing of the bill resulted in Israel threatening Ireland with retaliatory measures.

The next step is retaliation. In the fall of 2015, the Icelandic capital Reykjavik voted to boycott Israeli products. By the time I visited the country several months later, the city council had voted to withdraw that decision. When I asked why, it was explained to me that they were intimidated by the reaction of Israel and Jewish-Zionist organizations in the United States that were promising to retaliate. Israel was not going to allow a European capital to declare a boycott without fighting back, and a severe reaction and retaliation were to be expected.

Here again was an attempt by a small country to do what the U.S., the U.K., and even Russia, did not dare — to stand up to Israel and act to stop to the crimes committed against the Palestinian people.

Some do try but, as usual, are threatened or action is taken against them for doing so.

Why has this situation been created? Why is Israel so off limits no matter what it does? Why do the rest of the world fear a small (lawless) country and everything it does?

The palestinians--run by Hamas--whose written charter describes its main purpose as the destruction of Israel and the replacement of it by palestine.---But of course they must be joking. And israel should realize that and just give them back all the land they annexed after they were attacked;).And then Hamas will be happy and not want to kill all the jews anymore. And they can dance around the maypole.

Funny how Jews and Muslims lived side by side on that piece of land in relative peace for two thousand years and then comes the Zionist project.

Relocating people from a desert to more comfortable surroundings is very kind of Israel, the same was said of Saddam and the marsh Arabs when all he was trying to do was to make their lives more comfortable too.
Why only put a negative view forward Rollup !?

For our American chums:

What is Aggravated Theft?
Aggravated theft is theft of property, but with any of the following aggravating factors:

The use a weapon in the commission of the crime, and in particular, deadly weapons;

This land seems to be inside the original borders of the State of Israel - not in the occupied territories
So how is this different to compulsory moving people in the UK to clear slums or build a new road etc?
I'm no fan of the state of Israel but this does seem to be a bit of a beat up to me.

I agree. Plus you have to factor in Israel wanting a buffer zone from attack following the 67 and 72 wars.

I also agree that Israel is a pain in the butt and and an attention hog. But lets face it The Palestinians were thrown out of every other place.
And if palestine controlled what is now israel then israel would turn into an impoverished muslim hellhole within a few months.
Its nice to talk about palestinian rights...But they could never successfully function on their own

Mabe that's because they were ruled by the Turks for 400 years leading up to WW1, then by the British after that until 1947.
