The company, which employs 376 staff and operates more than 600 flights a week, said it faced “several difficulties” in recent weeks including spikes in fuel and carbon costs, the latter arising from the EU’s recent decision to exclude UK airlines from full participation in the Emissions Trading Scheme.
“Current trading and future prospects have also been seriously affected by the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, which has led to our inability to secure valuable flying contracts in Europe and lack of confidence around bmi’s ability to continue flying between destinations in Europe,” the airline said in a statement.
“Against this background, it has become impossible for the airline’s shareholders to continue their extensive programme of funding into the business, despite investment totalling over £40m in the last six years. We sincerely regret that this course of action has become the only option open to us, but the challenges, particularly those created by Brexit, have proven to be insurmountable.”

The EU are undoubtedly making an example of the UK as a warning to others, this continued will only serve to breed resentment.
Why can't we all just get along?
600 flights a week with 376 staff --not just in Britain --is no mean feat, they must have been running on a very tight budget.

This had nothing whatsoever to do with the EU, it is a symptom of the crazy uncertainty caused by the idiotic referendum and the subsequent chaotic handling of leaving the EU by this catastrophic government and those who have acted as their puppeteers for the last 2 years - Rees Mogg and the ERG.

Its the UK leaving the EU... which means leaving all of the things the EU does.
If it wants to remain in these things it needs to strike a deal but instead the useless Tories have wasted the last 2 years doing fuck all - cant blame the EU for that

Quite.
When you join a club, the rules are often in a small booklet or posted prominently on a wall. Seems we no longer want to be in the club, or pay for the facilities, but we still want use of them and are intent on crossing out the rules we don't like at the same time.
Our bad - not theirs.
