Democracy and the Corrupt Seven (Eight)

So now it is eight. If you want to understand that the UK truly is not a functioning democracy, consider this. Joan Ryan is all over the MSM this morning as being the eighth defector to the Independent Group. Yet astonishingly, while she is universally reported as citing anti-semitism as the reason she is leaving, it appears not one MSM journalist has asked her about her receipt of US$1 million from the Israeli Embassy for spreading Israeli influence. Not one. Nor has any mainstream media outlet cited the fact in its reporting today. Most, of course, never even mentioned it at the time.

I have heard it argued again and again on television this last 48 hours that it is deeply undemocratic for the electorate to be offered a choice that is any more complicated than between Red Tories and Blue Tories. It is apparently unthinkable and deeply wrong that Corbyn’s standard German style social democracy – which is routinely labeled “hard left” and “communist” – should be proffered to voters for them to support, or not.

The overwhelmingly Blairite MPs have put this case again and again to Labour Party members in repeated leadership elections, and have been roundly and repeatedly defeated. But now, according to no less a person than Tom Watson, Deputy Leader of the party, the losers’ policies must be embraced by the Party and adopted by its leadership, as to do otherwise is an affront to democracy. I confess I find this argument impossible to follow.

TBH, I'm very cool with this - not about the lies (Blairites blaming Corbyn and the great myth of anti-Semitism), but about the reality that if it becomes a proper movement, it might just stop Brexit. Time will tell.

I share that hope but find myself unable to read the runes at this time.

Name one anti-Semitic Labour rule or one anti-Semitic Labour policy - just one will do.

Israel Running Campaign Against Jeremy Corbyn

An app operated as part of an Israeli government propaganda campaign issued a “mission” for social media users to make comments against Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, accusing him of anti-Semitism.

This is the latest evidence of an Israeli campaign of psychological warfare against the UK’s main opposition party.

The Act.IL app on Sunday falsely accused Corbyn of comparing Israel to Nazi Germany in a 2010 meeting which had been resurfaced by The Times last week.

The “mission” was documented in this Tweet by Michael Bueckert, a Canadian researcher who has been monitoring the app since last year.

The reality is very different from the app’s claims.

As my colleague Adri Nieuwhof explains,

Israeli sabotage

As The Electronic Intifada reported earlier this year, the Act.IL app is a product of Israel’s strategic affairs ministry.

That ministry directs Israel’s covert efforts to sabotage the Palestine solidarity movement around the world.

Its top civil servant is a former army intelligence officer and the ministry is staffed by veterans of various spy agencies whose names are classified.

The Act.IL “mission” is another piece of evidence of the Israeli campaign of psychological warfare against Labour.

It is part of a long-running influence operation by Israel and its lobby groups to smear Corbyn, a veteran Palestine solidarity activist, and to label the party he leads “institutionally anti-Semitic.”

The Jewish Labour Movement, an anti-Palestinian group deeply linked to the Israeli government, has been at the forefront of the effort.

The group is run by Ella Rose, a former Israeli embassy officer.

Rose has privately admitted that as JLM director, she maintained close links to Shai Masot, the Israeli embassy spy forced to leave the country last year after the Al Jazeera investigation exposed him plotting to “take down” a senior UK government minister.

Masot was also spearheading the effort to manufacture a grassroots pro-Israel organization within the party, a tactic known as astroturfing.

But be warned: Mainstream media which have fueled sensational and often baseless smears will falsely portray any combined exit of right-wing lawmakers and anti-Palestinian activists as an “exodus of Jews” from the Labour Party. And yes, columnists supporting them will probably even use the same hackneyed biblical allusion.

How much more evidence is required before the brain dead stop with the 'Labour is anti Semitic' nonsense?

Is it wrong that I find it kind of funny how Tommy Robinson is an out and proud Zionist and the labor party is in the midst of a crisis trying to defend claims of being anti-semitic and people are posting conspiracy theories of a Jewish plot to take down the labor party.

The scumbag who sent insults to Luciana Berger and was jailed for 2 years had absolutely nothing to do with the Labour Party.

That isn't to say that there are no anti-Semites within the 500,000 members. What would the chances of that be? There are sure to be a few. But I can honestly say I have never met a person within the Labour party who had an ill word to say about Jewish people - and I'm proud of that. However, there are far too many who wrongly conflate anti-Semitism with calling out the state of Israel's treatment of the Palestinian people.

Are you a "mindless drone enabling hate" in that particular case?

Quite so, Canny....

"...a far right website in the United States initiated the #filthyjewbitch campaign, which the police said resulted in me receiving over 2,500 violent, pornographic and extreme anti-Semitic messages in just one day alone,” (Luciana Berger - GQ)

Hmmm, far right - isn't that who Viper and his ilk support? :cuppaT:

Really tempting to say yes, but in the case of Viper I can't see a person with the commitment to properly support anything - he's just a common troll who deliberately takes an opposing view with a view to throwing cheap childish insults at those who regularly beat him badly on here.

Sadly, an anti-Semitic troll.
