Terminological inexactitude

During a discussion about MP abuse, Ms Rudd said: "It's worst of all if you're a coloured woman. I know that Diane Abbott gets a huge amount of abuse."

This amused me, she could be my mum.

Offence cannot be given, Ms Abbot has taken it.

Lazy racism at it's best.

Abbott or Rudd?

'Coloured' is dated and old school, and makes the user look a little out of touch, but I don't feel it's as sinister as some make it out to be.

I wonder what would happen if 'white' ever became politically incorrect?

As I remember, a terminological inexactitude was a House of Commons term used to avoid calling someone a liar (nor allowed).

Abbott is a woman of colour - so no lie there.

And she has probably heard a lot worse - her Twitter feed must read like the comments on the BNP website.

First waffled by the Liberal MP Winston Churchill.

A man who crossed the floor of the HoC more times than Farage has led UKIP.

I believe that "people of colour" was once , but is no longer acceptable
It's now OK to refer to "blacks" I believe
But "coloureds" was once acceptable but no longer
Same for "darkies"
What about brown skinned people? As in "brown girl in the ring la la la la la"
I doubt that's acceptable as that racist McAz uses it here
And what about Asian people? Thais, Japanese, Vietnamese Philipinos etc - what's an acceptable generic term for those people? I'm guessing that it's definitely not "hairy arsed stokers"

Asians.

It's what they call themselves, and generally speaking that's the way to go. Only one exception I am aware of, I shan't be going up to a big black bloke and calling him 'n***er'.

It was also 40 years ago - Jim Davidson was waxing lyrical about 'Chalkie', and Bernard Manning was claiming that 'coons and pakkies' were good mates with him.

Things have moved on a bit since then - except for Davidson...

The most recent term that the Mongolites use is also the most insulting imv - non-white, or even, un-white. Urgh!

nnings club in Salford was a huge none stop success.
Indian businessmen would book the front seats to get picked on and insulted.
West Indian groups Chinese all kinds of people from all over the planet would go there to get abused and have a seriously good time and it's true /..... Manning really did have many Indian business friends away from the club scene.
He used to say of course I'm racist I'm British!
He expected other races to think they were the best too and be equally racist.
Strange man in strange times.

I am waiting for Rudd to be called a White Woman to see if as many people opt to take offence, the world has gone fucking mad and anyone thinking this newsworthy is as daft as Diane Abbot.
