Mothers send sons to Somalia to avoid knife crime

Representatives from north London’s Somali community say hundreds of children have been flown to Somalia, Somaliland and Kenya because of rising concerns over drug gangs and county lines, the criminal networks that use children to transport drugs from cities to the provinces.

In a series of interviews, Somali mothers who arrived in London after fleeing their country during its 1990s civil war told the Observer that many of their sons had asked to leave the UK because of drug gangs and the threat of violence."

Other than being the capital i'm not sure why people obsess over London as the total knife crime figures outside London is much higher than in.

With help from organised crime gangs branching out instead of competing in the city.

It's also not true that knife crime is higher outside of london. homicides with a knife as the weapon are higher per 100,000 in other areas but knife crime is 3 times higher in London than anywhere else.

That's not teally what Raven said though is it. Total knife crime figures outside of London mean the total for the whole of the rest of the UK.

It has indeed.

On 1st February 2019, Britain lodged it's first successful conviction for FGM, it has in fact been illegal here since 1985. A mother and her partner were charged with performing the procedure, although only the mother was found guilty. The Judge has stated she would receive a "lenthy" sentence. He was true to his word, she was sentenced to 14 yrs on 8th March 2019.

There are also steps being considered to amend the Childrens' Act in order for the Courts to be able to issues Protection Orders if they think a girl is at risk of FGM.
Sadly, backbench Conservative Sir Christopher Chope, blocked a FMG related Private Members Bill passing it's Second Reading in the House of Commons.
