I think his peers proved him guilty in absentia because most hung for following his dictates

There are many who still claim that acts were carried out in his name without his knowledge. Whether that would stand up in court is dubious to say the least.

But Hitler, like Thatcher, like Saville was never brought to justice - and so some fellow travellers use this to invoke their legal innocence - that's the point.

David Steel suspended by Liberal Democrats over Cyril Smith remarks

The Liberal Democrats have suspended former leader David Steel over remarks he made to a child abuse inquiry about the late MP Cyril Smith.

Lord Steel said he asked Smith in 1979 about claims he abused boys at a Rochdale hostel in the 1960s.

He said he came away from the conversation "assuming" that Smith had committed the offences but claimed it was "nothing to do with me".

A Scottish Liberal Democrat spokesman said an investigation would take place.

While it's sad that an otherwise honourable man should be downed by what might seem little by some - it serves as a reminder that the welfare and safety of children has something to do with all of us.

why do You think pm Churchill was so adamant about the activities in germany and the threat? which was blown way out of proportion, unless He actually knew germany was going to be provoked. as for pearl harbor the admiral was persecuted and faultily accused of negligence when His superiors knew exactly what was going to happen! not only Churchill attempted to warn them of an imminent attack!
