He's a politician, what do you expect? Pretty well all of them lie. It's part of the job description.

Not like that nice honest Mr Trump who wasn't a politician. /s

Be glad he hasn't started a war yet.

In the UK between 5% and 10% of children have been sexually abused
You know at least one person who has been sexually abused as a child
Someone reading your post will have been sexually abused
It's a very serious issue. Best not to take the piss.

Indeed.
I’ve always wondered why they still send their boys to these places knowing what goes on in them.
You’d have to be mentally deficient to put your child in harms way like that.

Not only 'not serious' but been lying all along as this Belgian MEP said in no uncertain terms (listen around 2m 18sec).

From ex-Tory leader William Hague, in today's Torygraph (no link - paywall)

"All of us who have been Tory leader have made mistakes, but this one is the most egregious and counter-productive act of self-harm committed by the party leadership that I can recall in my lifetime. If we do not speak out about it, there is little prospect that lessons will be learned …

It is not possible to be aware of [the] record and characters [of those who have had the whip removed] without thinking that their expulsion from the parliamentary ranks of the Conservative party, partly at the behest of people who have spent years rebelling, is a disgusting act of hypocrisy.

Space does not allow me to go through the work of each of these 21. But when I recall Nicholas Soames sitting assiduously on the backbenches and loyally supporting Tory leaders when I arrived in the Commons in 1989, and that he was still in the same spot, still supporting them, when I left in 2015, I cannot accept that he can be tossed out of the party after one rebellion on the whim of advisers who have only just turned up …

The final problem with this whole episode is that it appears to send a signal – that if you are a “moderate” Tory, a socially liberal, fiscally responsible, internationalist Conservative who believes in the necessity of compromise and balance in our national affairs – you have to start to think about joining a new party.

I wonder if Bungle, Ray, Guest et. al. are 'moderate Tories' ? And if a new party is formed, will they be joining it ?

Actually - if you knew anything at all about child sex abuse you would know that 90% of abusers are known to the victims.
And the shocking abuse that takes place in UK boarding schools is mostly at Catholic schools
Boris Johnson went to school in Brussels. Not the UK

That's a shame for him...

Some of the most damning evidence of systematic child abuse by the Roman Catholic clergy to come to light was unveiled today by Belgium's leading authority on paedophilia, who published hundreds of pages of harrowing victim testimony detailing their traumas and suffering.

The explosive report by Peter Adriaenssens in the town of Louvain, east of Brussels, lists evidence of 476 instances of child abuse by priests and bishops going back 50 years.

Best not try to impose your own rather common standards on others.

I note that your nice friend didn't come back with a simple dictionary link to his and your definition. And it's obvious why.

Everyone knows 'backs against the wall' is a homophobic slur, even your beloved Guardian (paragraph 3)

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2005/ ... ts.schools

Your reasoning of 'being In a hard-pressed situation' does not fit with voluntarily going for a pint with Boris. It was clearly a homophobic slur, made even worse that you used it alongside calling him a thief. Why do you see homosexuals as being as bad as thieves?

Perhaps it's time to change your avatar to something more appropriate, like a pitchfork-wielding redneck?

Just for you, Red - re. your concern about homophobic comments...

Who do you think said this ?

“Weep, O ye shirt-makers of Jermyn Street, ye Cool Brittannia tailors and whatever exists of human finer feeling. In the Ministry of Sound, the tank-topped bumboys blub into their pils."

There are plenty of links, but here's one close to your heart, that you are sure to trust given your certain affinities.

Boris went to Rotherham this morning, people shouting at him "Why aren't you in parliament?".

His statement, with my interpretation;

On where we are with Brexit, I think people do deserve to know what’s going on.

(That's why we tried desperately to conceal the Yellowhammer report, obviously)

We’re working incredibly hard to get a deal, there is the rough shape of a deal to be done.

(We put a few ideas on the back of a fag (steady, RedOktober) packet last night during the brandy and cigars)

I myself have been to talk to various other EU leaders, particularly in Germany, in France, and in Ireland, where we made a good deal of progress.

(I've been on a few jollies, and I showed the Irish PM my new Tai Chi moves)

I’m seeing a president of the Commission, and the chief negotiator, Michel Barnier on Monday, and we’ll talk about the ideas that we’ve been working on. And we’ll see where we get.

(I'm giving the EU head chappie the fag packet on Monday, and we'll talk about the weather)

I’m cautiously optimistic.

(We haven't a prayer of a deal, even the DUP have abandoned me).

Girly swot fights back.

David Cameron has accused Boris Johnson and Michael Gove of leaving "the truth at home" over Brexit as he said they behaved “appallingly” during the EU referendum campaign.

In an excoriating attack by an ex-prime minister on one of his successors, Mr Cameron said his former friends and colleagues “left the truth at home” when they made claims about £350m a week payments to Brussels on their campaign bus.

Casting doubt on Mr Johnson’s promise of getting Britain out of the EU on Oct 31 with or without a deal, Mr Cameron also suggests a second referendum might now be necessary, saying: “I don’t think you can rule it out because we’re stuck.”
