Britain must accept US food standards such as allowing chlorinated chicken and genetically modified crops as part of any post-Brexit trade deal, the head of America’s powerful farming lobby has said.

The comments from Zippy Duval, president of the American Farm Bureau, to the BBC came as British farmers demanded a referendum on any Brexit deal, warning they face “decimation” if the UK crashes out of the EU without an agreement.

The UK has been told by the American farming lobby that it must accept US standards such as allowing chlorinated chicken and the sale of genetically modified crops as part of a post-Brexit trade deal.

Zippy Duval, head of the American Farm Bureau, told the BBC that fears about US practices were not "science-based".

:pmsl: :pmsl: He sounds just like Trump.

Anyway, just another warning that pus laden milk, foodstuffs containing (permitted in US) rodent hairs, beetle bits etc, hormone polluted meat, many GM products and chlorinated chicken are on the way.

The size of American agriculture makes Britain's look like a small family farm.
Our farmers are going to be wiped out.
Wales Scotland many parts of England will see their farming communities destroyed and big ag take over everything.

Playing Role of Pesticide 'Cheerleader,' EPA Rebukes Calif. With Ban on Warning Labels for Roundup

"It's the Environmental Protection Agency, not the pesticide protection agency."

President Donald Trump's Environmental Protection Agency was accused of being a pesticide "cheerleader" last week after the agency said it would not approval labels that say that glyphosate—the active ingredient in Roundup and other weedkillers—is known to cause cancer.

In a statement released Thursday announcing the move, the EPA dug in on its assertion that glyphosate does not cause cancer, though critics have said that is "an industry-friendly conclusion that's simply not based on the best available science."

The new guidance takes aim at California's 2017 move, in adherence with its Proposition 65, to add glyphosate to its list of chemicals known to cause cancer and require warning labels. The state cited the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer 2015 assessment that glyphosate is "probably carcinogenic to humans."

The EPA, however, said those labels provided consumers with false information.

"We will not allow California's flawed program to dictate federal policy," said EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler in the statement.

The Average U.S. Farm Is $1,300,000 In Debt, And Now The Worst Farming Crisis In Modern History Is Upon Us

We haven’t seen anything like this since the Great Depression of the 1930s. Leading up to this year, farm incomes had been trending lower for most of the past decade, and meanwhile farm debt levels have been absolutely exploding. So U.S. farmers were desperate for a really good year, but instead 2019 has been a total disaster.

As I have been carefully documenting, due to endless rain and catastrophic flooding millions of acres of prime farmland didn’t get planted at all this year, and the yields on tens of millions of other acres are expected to be way, way below normal. As a result, we are facing the worst farming crisis in modern American history, and this comes at a time when U.S. farms are drowning in more debt than ever before. In fact, the latest numbers that we have show that the average U.S. farm is 1.3 million dollars in debt…

Debt-to-asset ratios are seeing the same squeeze, with more farms moving into a ratio exceeding 80%. Barrett notes each year since 2009 has seen an increase in the average amount of total debt among farmers, and 2017 was no exception. Average debt rose 10% to $1.3 million. The biggest increase was in long-term debt, such as land.

Farming in the 21st century has become an extraordinarily risky business, and countless U.S. farmers were already on the verge of going under even before we got to 2019.

Now that this year has been such a complete and utter disaster, many farms will not be able to operate once we get to 2020.

If the horrific weather and endless flooding wasn’t enough, about a week ago the Chinese government announced that they would be ending all “purchases of U.S. agricultural products”, and that was a devastating blow for farmers all over the nation.

No wonder they are so keen to set up a deal with the UK.

Just say NO.

And not a single one of those polls will matter one iota if and when parties opposed to this shambolic government get their ducks in a row and recommend tactical voting.

Libdems will take dozens of seats off the Tories in constituencies where they are second, and a reciprocal arrangement for the Midlands and North will take them out there too.

And if you think that can't happen, remember Brecon and Radnorshire.

Another load of crap spouted by Canny, Question how many Brits visit the US every year 5 mill or near about. How many of them eat chicken, steak chips and other foods.
Oh shit, I wonder how many have died or been seriously ill when arriving back in the UK. I have eaten chicken, steaks, and plenty of other foods when there. Canny stop with the bullshit. I also point out Canada ships into their country Chicken, Steaks and other foods. I am there at least four times a year and eat what is on their menu's the Canadians don't seem to be dying around me when I visit. So shut up with your bullshit Canny.

If the Conservatives and the Brexit party get their act together the corbynista party or the Limp Dumbshits will not get a look in. The Brecon vote only got the Limp dumbshits in the seat because both the Brexit party and the Conservatives stood against each other if the Brexit party had stood down. The results would have been very much different. The vote count for both of those parties together was far superior to the Limp Dumbshits go count if you do not believe me. Did anyone notice the Corbynista vote it disappeared right up Corbyns arse. I could not stop laughing.

They have had years, and your statement tells all - they haven't managed it yet.

Nor will they - Fromage and Bojo have too big egos for that.

The Brexit party has not been around for years.
