The late-night boozy message they conveyed to me was that life there was fine and dandy. One quote i recall was, "...but what's the point in being well-off in Norway when everyone is well-off. It's so damn boring".

I've since visited Norway, and yes, it was pretty boring. :smilin:

Oh they love their booze and they are happy to go out of the country for it because its so damned expensive.
Many moons ago I travelled from Hamburg to Kristiansand on a ferry and there was a huge group of Norwegian guys and ladies having an almighty piss up on the boat.
When I travelled back three weeks later the same group were on the ferry again having another almighty piss up.
When I asked them why they simply said that it was another weekend and they had no intention of paying Norwegian prices.

Your post made me google...

"Poverty in Norway is concentrated in the major cities such as Oslo. 43% of all the poor in Norway are immigrants, even though they contribute only 16.3% of Norway's population.
Poverty in Norway - Wikipedia
https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Poverty_in_Norway "

Your google doesn't surprise me.

Yes, they do like a drink. The other thing I noted was the similarity of their sense of humour to ours - in contrast to the other nords.

Really? I find the Swedes good for socialising

I found them clean but a little sniffy relative to Norwegians - but I haven't surveyed the whole country. :gigglesnshit:

Starmer is a neoliberal and the right wing and media choice so should be avoided at all costs.

Jess Phillips is much the same with a bigger mouth. Again, best avoided.

RBL and Rayner duo would be good.

More Corbynism. Sure to work - if Labour want to be impotent as an electable force for a generation.

Some people clearly failed to notice the complete rejection of his mish-mash of policies by the British electorate.

They didn't reject them specifically - most did not know what they were.

It certainly would have depended on which 'newspaper' they read.

Indeed.

In terms of popularity most Labour policies had appeal - these for example:

Increase health budget by 4.3%
Raise minimum wage from £8.21 to £10
Stop state pension age rises
Introduce a National Care Service
Scrap Universal Credit
Build 100,000 council homes a year

(Source: BBC)

But Brexit and the limp leadership of Corbyn muddied the bath water. Speaking of which, care should be taken not to throw out the baby in the clean up operation. :smilin:

Once more Corbyn refuses to back any candidate and refuses to say who he will be voting for
So, just another day on the fence for Corbyn
What a gutless wimp he is.

I see that we members will be getting a secret ballot for each CLP to nominate a single representative in the leadership election.

I suspect there will be a much better representation of the true political leanings of Labour party members. Expect a few surprises.

Hopefully the desire to become electable overrides all other considerations.

And there we have it. No principles, no ideas, and no clue.
