I’ve got more sense from listening to a Pingu cartoon.

*A patriotic tear runs down my cheek*

Boris Johnson’s government has confirmed it will top up the Queen’s income following a significant slump in the Crown Estate’s revenue during the coronavirus crisis.

The royal family takes in rental receipts from shops in London’s Regent Street, alongside malls and retail parks around the country – but the value of its portfolio has fallen by more than £500m since the pandemic hit.

The Treasury said it would provide the estate with extra money to meet any shortfall in profits and make sure the Queen’s sovereign grant remains at its current level.

Jesus H Christ.

Mere words cannot describe the despair I feel at where this country is going.

I'm thinking of emigrating to Kent (Now known as Le Kent du Mille Nimes).

Patriotism is the new Labour theme - courtesy of Starmer.
Sir Keir Starmer said he wanted the party to be "proud of being patriotic".

Now, in his first speech to the party's conference as the party's head, he will say to voters:
"I ask you: take another look at Labour.
We're under new leadership.
We love this country as you do."

When you gain independence and are able to form a government. The nationalism/patriotism argument makes my teeth itch because it's so blurred in England.

We have the same issue within the Indy movement too, if yer no SNP ye cannie be for independence , which is bullshit and some of us are sick telling them that in an independent Scotland we will have new parties emerge and a fair amount of them have liberal/labour/tory roots, they all need a voice. The whole ISP thing I'm ignoring. These are issues that can be dealt with in the future, for now, get covid sorted but keep eyes on the prize. See Sunaks speech today ? Fuck all for Scotland. :hand:

A great idea - taking it back from the Right Wing Flag Shaggers who are the least patriotic people on the planet and are determined to drive this country into destitution at all costs.

Sorry you couldn't get the irony in my post about emigrating to Kent - perhaps a little complicated for you, especially the new name.

One good thing, if Fromage tries to get from his home in Le Kent du Mille Nimes to England we can lock him up in a migrant camp.

I'm sorry, but I don't know what he said to the Queen when he got knighted.
I'm guessing that he kneeled

Labour has recorded its first poll lead since Boris Johnson became prime minister, marking an extraordinary changes in fortunes for the two main parties.

Keir Starmer’s party now has a three-point lead over the Conservatives, according to the latest Opinium poll for the Observer. In a result that will stir more unrest among Tory MPs over the performance of the prime minister, the poll put Labour on 42% support, with the Conservatives on 39%.

This represents a rapid reversal. The Conservatives recorded a 26-point lead only six months ago, in the early stages of the Covid-19 lockdown. Approval of government handling of coronavirus then stood at two-thirds (65%) of the public. The latest poll shows only 30% now approve.

Starmer now leads Johnson by four points on who would make the best prime minister. More than half of voters (55%) believe he is ready to be prime minister, and 40% believe Labour is ready to form the next government.

Another small step showing that the public are finally realising that this government is nothing short of incompetent.

Johnson will be gone soon, and despite him being a bumbling fool of a man, my guess is that he will take 5-10% of Tory support out when he goes.

The wine tastes a little sweeter tonight.

You drink sweet wine? Ugh! Not surprising for a Labour voter I suppose

And - don't get excited by that poll, it's just an outlier
The Delta poll taken a couple of days later still has the Conservatives with a 4% lead
Which is pretty consistent with all the others.
