How many generations do they have to be in America for before they simply become American?
Most of them have never been to ..... hang on that doesn't work

They actually have their own nations now, to a degree.

Maybe natives of Hawaii should be called Pacific Islander-Americans?

Why?

Hawaii is in the USA and Hawaiian natives are therefore Native Americans.

The same could be said of Virgin Islanders, Samoans, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Northern Mariana Islands.

All should become states BTW - although I don't think DC should as it's supposed to be 'neutral' - the 55 states of America, it has a nice ring to it

Yeah. The Polynesian colonists beat the European colonists by about 1000 years.

Yeah. The Polynesian colonists beat the European colonists by about 1000 years.

From what I can see the Polynesians arrived in about 300AD which is well before the Angles and Saxons came to the British Isles.
