Should we Talk the Talk if we can't Walk the Walk?

Scaremongering, much? :ooer:

Once the sabre rattling has eased off and the news cycle has moved onto another headliner event, I expect back channel diplomacy will eventually resolve this issue. The talk will be talked...and a crisis will be averted.

Probably, but one day soon it's not going to happen the way we expect because too many unstable people are getting involved.

Russia has made a statement denying any knowledge or complicity in the nerve agent attack and have demanded that the British government supply them with samples of the poison.

A delay tactic, but at the same time it's not a completely unreasonable request. On the very slim chance this was not sanctioned by Putin they will want to be able to identify the source. However, even if it were true that it was some rogue agent acting alone, Putin wouldn't admit it publicly because it would him look weak. So whether we give them a sample or not, there will only be denials from Moscow.

How will we deal with something like that?

If only we had a strong and stable leader.

Whats a strong and stable leader going to do? ...... ask him to wait until one of our vastly overdue and overbudget new aircraft carriers comes on stream before getting a reaction form us?

or get the Mary Rose seaworthy again?

The trouble with Britain, no matter who is in charge, is that since the war successive governments have just about ensured we can hold our own in a fight in the school bogs but outside in the big playground, we'd be swatted like flies.

We've got the Yanks? :paranoid:

They refused all help with the Falklands.

Financial retaliations are not really a good idea when you're desperately seeking new trading partners and few are the slightest bit interested all ready and prefer to seek trade agreements with the much bigger shop next door called the EU.

I think May can request the FA pull out of the WC, but they don't have to comply, and it would be their decision. We'd probably just be replaced by Italy though, and not too many people on the world stage would notice that much or give a shit either way.

The threat of Princes Harry and William boycotting it will hardly have Vlad shaking in his boots either.

Just wait until the group stages are over and we’ll be back home anyway...

Hmm...

A Russian exile who was close friends with the late oligarch Boris Berezovsky has been found dead in his London home, according to friends.

Nikolai Glushkov was discovered by his family and friends late on Monday night, aged 68. The cause of death is not yet clear.

Nonsense.
She can tell Channel 4 not to sell tv rights of Great British Bake Off to Russian TV. :smilin:

Reagan was really pissed off that Thatcher sunk the only surviving ship from Pearl Harbor.
