If you mean young people I tend to agree except under exceptional circumstances.

40 year olds can live with their parents (and they do). Don't be ageist

Yes, but say it was a couple in their 40s who had worked all their lives and both got made redundant? Would you allow them Housing and Council Tax Benefit?

I have a feeling my Manager started on this and he has a great salary now. Maybe some employers took it more seriously than others. :dunno:

You're on around 35 grand a year?

I'm not in my 40's and yet I wouldn't get housing benefit or council tax benefit.

You must live with someone who's working then.

I'm a taxpayer who gets sod all............why should I have to look after my daughter for ever, because there isn't affordable housing available to her?

Affordable housing is a different story. We're talking about housing benefit for under 25's.

So am I, she couldn't afford a place without it being topped up with housing benefit.........in many cases, people who work still have to apply for housing benefit you know.

Can I ask what age she is? This is what selling off Social Housing and getting rid of the rent cap has did for us. My son earns a bit above minimum wage and he would be able to afford his own place if he shared with his friend.
