Chavs

A right load of bollocks...

Chavs

Postby Truthy » Mon Jan 21, 2013 3:29 pm

I just read this guest post on the Jimmy Savile thread:

most british chavs are braindead.

I don't like the word much myself but what exactly is a 'chav'?

More importantly RE the post in question, what is a British chav?

We don't say chav in Scotland Truthy we say "Ned", which is short for Non Educated Delinquent.

Doesn't that have some sort of conotation towards youth though?

A chav can be any age I believe although its not a term you normally hear used towards the elderly.

Well I am a Chavez by definition.

No amount of educating via public standards will ever change me. Certificates mean nothing. Qualifications mean nothing. I prefer my own brainstorming studies that do not have a title subject. Just think of something and run with it.

What makes you think that?

There's a few Yanks, Aussies etc on here but i've never heard them use the expression. Its pretty much an expression used here so I doubt if it was any of them...

I was having a wee look just now Truthy on Google it says most neds are teenagers. A Scottish ned is just the same as an English Chav, different accent and name but both have the same bad attitude.

Chavs or what people call chavs here can be any age though like couples and their 45 kids :gigglesnshit:

Suppose Ned can be applied to any age, folk just have an image of chavs being younger though I s'pose, on street corners wearing Burberry hats etc

I agree Truthy - chavs can be any age, and any financial status

Look at Katie Price for example, multi-million pound fortune, biggest chav going

Just 'cause there was no need to use the word "British" in there - there are chavs all over, not just Britain

No doubt but its not an expression that you'd hear Americans use for example, that's why I don't think it was someone from overseas...
