Missing threads - question for admin

Postby Puzzled » Tue Aug 27, 2013 4:19 pm

There doesn't appear to be a PM facility on here, so this is an open question to Stuart or whoever the admin is here.

A client of mine asked me to investigate links to your forum which appeared on their website viewing stats. I've tried to access all the links but they're coming up with the message 'You are not authorised to read this forum'.

Can someone explain why this might have happened? Clearly there are some forums here that are not publicly viewable. I'm happy to provide a sample link to verify that this has taken place but would prefer to discuss this by email with the admin, rather than get into the sort of discussion that seems typical here.

My clients have no links with this forum that they know of, and (having skim read the content of the viewable forums) have no wish to have any involvement here, but wonders why people would be linking from here to their website, and who those people are. It seems highly likely that the person has also provided information about my client to another, similar forum. This may be a case of mistaken identity - we would like to clarify this before continuing with legal action.

Cheers.

The only sections of this forum that members can't see are the Mod and Admin forums. I asked you already what are these threads about?

So which is it, client or clients? Only skimmed the content of this fine site? Shame on you, take the time to absorb the information and wallow in it for a while, get to know the posters. So a poster on here is giving information to another site...hmmmm sounds like someone who might also account share.....or perhaps some terrorist group seeking to prevent others from travelling abroad. By the way your client wouldn't be Karl now would it?

Legal action?? Seriously? on what type of complaint? If your client runs a website it may be better if they learn how they work.
Some one at some point must have posted a link on here to your 'clients' website, so your 'clients' stats showed the url of Dogs. Then that thread, or post may have been removed for any number of reasons. Maybe admin didn't want SPAM from your 'client'. The whole point of having a website with a web address is so people can post the URL and others can click on it. :link:

I think Puzzled is on a wind up meself. I'm not buying this bollocks of "missing threads" and legal action. Twice i've asked him/her about the threads, i'm still waiting for an answer. :bored:

I have said already I don't want to get into a general discussion about this. I have no idea what the threads were about, as stated in my opening post, I only have the links. These are as your 'Guest' succinctly surmised, from where someone has clicked on a link to my clients' website from here.

In plain English, my clients wanted to know what would bring their website to the attention of posters from this forum. It is a specialist website and I can't see anything in the publicly viewable areas of this forum that would suggest there would be any interest in it, other than that of potentially malicious behaviour (based purely on the majority of dialogue between posters in this first section of your forum, and indeed, the rather aggressive/defensive tone you're taking with me). Given that we have reason to believe that someone from this forum has been instrumental in forwarding details about my clients to another forum which seems very vindictive in nature, it's understandable that my client wishes to identify the person responsible.

I would rather not post the links publicly as that would presumably identify my clients to those who still have access to the missing threads, and until we have secured our legal position with reference to the behaviour of the other forum involved I would prefer not to expose my clients further.

The name Karl means nothing to me whatsoever in relation to this matter; interesting though and I'll add it to my notes.

So puzzled which is it, a client that is complaining or clients? You seem to bounce between the two. So in plain English someone from this site gave forwarding details about your the site of your client to yet another site! But luv the sites are public domain on the big world wide web....doesn't your client want people to find him and well bond with them? What sort of introvert is your client to have a web site but not want posters? Why not help us out luv, give us a link:link: that way maybe we can find the naughty person and well flog them publicly so that your client or clients depending onyour mood might be satisfied. Will that help?

Puzzled come back, help us to help you....give us a clue puzzled; the site link, perhaps whom you suspect is leading posters to that site ,the one in which your client wishes to remain unknown. Tell me puzzled why the need for sekrits? Doesn't your client want posters to find and view their site? I mean really isn't that the purpose of a web site ....For people to see it.

With respect, I'll discuss this with 'Stoo' (who I assume is the Stuart who activated my account) or 'Victoria', since they seem to be responsible for the admin role on this forum. It's really no-one's business how many clients I am acting for, nor is it relevant to the matter in hand, which is simply to try to identify what possible reason there might have been for posting a link to my clients' website from this forum.

However, to clarify, not everyone who has a website (and I do mean a website, not a forum) wants to receive traffic from all and sundry - it's time wasting, at best; frankly, rather suspect in this case. I'm sure there are plenty of websites out there for whom the quantity of traffic is everything but that is simply not so for my clients.

Also the point someone made earlier about the link having been removed due to spam from my clients - simply not possible. The website in question is not engaged in any such activity.

I will wait until I hear further from the admin team. Thanks for your interest.
