Written by two naturalists, with entries for every day of the year to give an idea of what to look out for. It's a sort of adult version of the Ladybird What To Look For In Spring/Summer/Autumn/Winter books, though without pics.

Very nice. :smilin:

The BBC has a wonderful series of articles and videos on the death of Cassini and it's remarkable mission discoveries.

The best of which is the possibility of life in the mysterious water ocean beneath the ice shell of Saturn's beautiful moon - Enceladus.

Keys, I (obviously) don't have the scientific knowledge you have about Cassini and Saturn - but I can appreciate the wonderful images that Cassini took of the planet.

Truly stunning - and when Cassini 2 lifts off, I'm sure it will explore even deeper. :smilin:

Thanks Charlie - it really was stunning mission. :Hiya:

Here is one of my very favourite photos from Cassini that puts all the problems that people have in perspective - the tiny and beautiful blue jewel lost in the cosmic abyss is the Earth.

Similar to the famous photo of the Earth, taken from the very edge of the solar system – can't remember which mission but a pic suggested by Carl Sagan.

Anyway, back to Earth, here's some butterflies showing themselves in the last two weeks in my local park:

It was the famous image taken on February 14, 1990 by the Voyager 1 that led Carl to this quote below - beautiful photos by the way. :cuppaT:

Where I live, there are a large population of Red Kites.

It's fascinating watching these gorgeous raptors swoop to the ground looking for prey.

A couple of weeks, I witnessed a number of them chasing a large flock of pigeons. The pigeons were darting in all different directions in order to avoid them.

Unfortunately, I didn't see a capture - but if I see this again, I'm going to film it and upload it. :smilin:

You are very lucky - I just love birds of prey, they are just small Maniraptoran theropods after all!
