Well the World Cup is almost upon us. News that Alistair Cook maybe dropped is reverberating around the Aviva Premiership. With Phil Neville about to choose his squad the form of Joe Root has been an issue and finishing 7th in the Grand National didn't help. Strikers like Welback have struggled to take wickets. Pressure was on the FA to withdraw the England team but it didn't seem a good idea as they rarely reach the 3 mile mark. In some respects the FA want England to fail so they can recruit Arsene Ferguson for the top job. In other sports Lewis Hamilton's unanimous points win against Chris Hoy over 12 furlongs was greeted with muted applause. Serena Williams will hopefully feature at Epsom this summer.

tops tips

Durham to win the Boat Race
USA or Ivory Coast to win the World Cup
World Cup top scorers Rory Speith or Timo Alonso
France to win The Ashes

The World Cup starts on the 14th of June and 32 teams are off to Russia to try and win the biggest (Not size wise) trophy in football.

England will be looking to make up for 52 years of hurt and making an arse of themselves in Brazil.

Germany will start as one of the favourites as they try and defend their crown

Brazil have been impressive in recent months and will fancy their chances.

I'll shall start a World Cup thread soon and post all the latest news.

I think you need an impartial observer like me to take charge of the thread, because the English posters will be posting pish about how they'll win it.

I have to laugh at the BBC commentary team - if O'Sullivan is not playing well they sound as if it is a national tragedy and we should all go into a period of mourning - I really hope that Carter wins after all of the terrible health problems he has been through.

O'Sullivan out.

The BBC will be holding a wake and placing flowers next to the table. :gigglesnshit:

Well done to Ali Carter after beating cancer twice in recent years - he is also one of the few players to speak up against Ronnie's endless antics/tantrums.

Higgins is now favourite for me though.

Ali made Ronnie continually chase the game. Multiple Champs and the really big names in any given sport usually hate being the chaser, often it is the only time you may see them crack they usually love front running.

Well done to Ali.

A Ding and Higgins match would be an awesome final the form that they are both in - and Ding (along with Trump) should really have won the world title by now - if not several times.

Now is probably his best chance ever since Selby and O'Sullivan are out.

Don't mind who wins though this year - it's going to be a wonderful final week.

I’d really like Mark Allen to win it, he’s a cracking player and a good guy off the table. If not Allen, Trump or Ding. Anybody but that dishonest cunt Higgins, can’t stand the bloke...

Barry and Kyren playing blinders atm.

Unless something monumental happens The Hawk will defeat the tournament favourite tomorrow.

Wilson is a top bloke and demonstrated that in the Masters final when he told security not to throw out some ignorant twat whose mobile kept ringing.

He could go all the way now as it's so open. :cuppaT:
