What's everyone up to this Christmas?

A right load of bollocks...

What's everyone up to this Christmas?

Postby Vam » Fri Dec 01, 2017 10:24 am

A crazy, rushed flurry of hyper activity? Or will you be hiding under the duvet/slobbing about in front of the tele, until the whole shebang's over for another year?

We're trying to organise some live music, magician, Santa + gifts, for a local kids' hospice on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day lunch at a friend's house.

Boxing Day - 11 +2 extra dogs, round at mine :doomed:

27th onwards - me >>> :thud:

No plans for New Year.

On Christmas Eve, we'll see my mum's brother and his family.

I'm not sure if my brother is joining us on Christmas Day for his dinner.

He got engaged last year, but him and his Fiancee usually have their dinners apart.

Two reasons for this..

She's scared of Jack and i refuse to lock him in the kitchen

Her family always have a takeaway for their Christmas dinner and Cols says that's not for him.

I'm not sure if being engaged will change things this year.

Oh and the reason they always have a takeaway is her brother-in-law is a chef and refuses to cook on Christmas Day.

He says it's his day off.

Dinner with parents, kids and partners coming up afternoon. Back home and fall asleep after gorging on peanuts, cashews and little biscuity things. (knackered from playing with grand children)

can't wait :hap:

Christmas Eve is when I used to do the whole big Christmas dinner thing, too. It's an Italian custom. But I have no close family left, and certainly no family out here, so... :dunno:

Can I ask how come you're doing yours on Christmas Eve?

The youngest is just 15 months so she's in to everything! First Christmas day with them for a while, they live in Wales and have relations on her partners side in London, then me and her mother (seperate homes, divorced long ago so get on) down south so it's a juggle each year who's turn it is. Will visit at her mothers or them come up a few times before they go back. :twirl:

We just always have, from us as children being old enough to stay up for it

Long luxurious meal, lots of wine, everyone is knackered so children sleep

Christmas day consists of 2 meals, scallops wrapped in pancetta/parma ham and cooked in a very hot oven served with fizz as an early lunch, and then leftover turkey and suchlike as people feel hungry towards evening

I'm just not the type to play frazzled knackered woman in the kitchen on Christmas day

My family's kind of spread out, so it's not always easy or convenient to get together at Christmas. My aunt is flying over for a few days to stay with mum, so I'll be meeting with them. No doubt I'll return with some novelty socks

Her daughters the same, they're both feart of him.

Jack has never bitten anyone or shown any aggression in his life.

I haven't seen her for ages, Vam.

However if i told her i was ill she would be round here like a shot, hoping it was serious.

She loves a good illness.

My eldest lass has invited OH and me for Christmas dinner - it'll be the first time I haven't cooked one in 40 years so I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm doing one on boxing day though; it's a hard habit to break.
I'd love a dog like Jack, Vicky - labs are gorgeous and rarely aggressive, but our eldest grandson has autism and is petrified of all dogs. It's such a shame as I think a gentle-natured hound would be a great help to him.
I digress. I can't wait for Christmas day.

I’ve got the last girls gather of the year on the 22nd, and my annual Christmas fundraiser on the 23rd. Then it’ll be mad dash to buy present, wrap presents, and stuff the presents under the tree.

Christmas Day is at home in the morning, kids open presents, FaceTime distant relatives and have a full English. My parents at 1 ready for Christmas dinner at 3. Then to the in laws at 5 for Christmas dinner at 6. Then roll home at some point after cake and vegetate on the couch for the rest of the night.

I much prefer Boxing Day. I do nothing, the kids amuse themselves, my parents have a little buffet and we slob about.
