Technical help needed!

Postby Bella » Sun Jan 07, 2018 9:55 pm

My lap top needs help and I will have take it to the Apple place.

However in the mean time I have 3 of my late brothers laptops, I have not been able to face them and they are all hidden under the sofa and have been for 3 years. I think they are all in working order but I forgot or never knew the passwords, how can I access them? It's going to be an emotional task but needs doing.

3yrs and you haven't moved the couch?
Okay technical help .... move the sofa plug the vac in and clear all that dust and fluff.
Then go into the BIOS google will tell you how for whatever model.
Remove orr change password.
Don't alter anything else in there.

If you don't have a LINUX disc ask on Freecycle.
Or go to ASDA and buy a Linux magazine which will have a disc with numerous LINUX systems on to choose from.

If they are Windows machines and you don't want or need access to you brother's accounts you can restore them back to their factory condition by following this guide:

Just know you’d lose everything on it. It’d be completely wiped.
I’m a sentimental fuck, and I still have my brothers laptop with everything on it.

I did the safemode and logging in as Administrator method, could change the password from there if I remember rightly.

I don't think I could face it all, most of it is well beyond my comprehension aside from his music. He was a bit of a mentally ill genious type of person but
Leukemia got him in the end. I'll try and capture his music if I can.

Sorry about you Bro too ):

I kept all my brothers Uni work and everything. No interest in it, but nice to have his written words there. His music would be nice. There should be a few options on google for you.

Lymphoma got my brother. Bloody cancer.

Thank you, and you too Bella! :wubbers:

I hope you get in eventually, Bella. And I hope it brings more comfort than the anguish you expect.

It's set me off thinking about what a support my bro is to me, despite the rough and tumble of earlier years. :wubbers:

As NN suggests, you won't be able to recover his music if you reset the machines, Bella. Did he not leave back-ups on a hard disk somewhere?
