This photo taken of the family in 2011 on holiday, shows them to be a happy and healthy family.

However this photo taken in 2016, shows the children all dressed the same and wearing tee-shirts with "Thing" on them.

That photo shows them in a different light.

I wonder what happened between the happy Disney photos and this one?

The mother is 47 years old and the youngest child is 2 years old.

Now I know, it's possible to have a baby in your mid-forties, but there's also the possibility the father was abusing his daughters and one of them is the babies mother.

Might be reading a bit too much into the photos. :dunno: We can’t see the children's faces and having kids dress the same for a photo or outing isn’t that uncommon. However, it sounds like what has come to light shows that these two should not have been parents, or at least you have to wonder when did it go so wrong?

A lot of people would use words like bleeding heart for wanting to try and understand what happened here, and for many the first instinct is to say who cares, let’s just lock them up and throw away the key. But perhaps there was a time when they were a normal family and something snapped? Finding out how and why things go wrong can help predict or prevent similar occurrences.

Feel absolutely awful for those poor kids, they will likely need a lot of therapy to go on to live normal lives.

I'd imagine there was some sort of mental breakdown within the family, it doesn't look like the usual case of kidnapping or cruelty.

The 'thing' t shirts though, they just reference the cat in the hat books - my daughter went to world book day at primary school with her and her friend dressed as thing 1 & thing 2 complete with blue wigs - the case is bad enough without the press sensationalising it

I think they declared bankruptcy in 2011 perhaps that was the start of it all? Money worries can be destructive in so many ways. :dunno:

All the girls seem to have the same hairstyle (middle parting) and the boys have the same hairstyle as the father. Not odd as such but no individuality you normally see between siblings.

It's fucked when you realise at least 6 of the children in this photo are actually over 18. One of them is 27.

It's coming across as almost cult-like but I'm not sure whether that is the reality or the media spin

Might give some credence to the charges of malnourishment. A few of them look downright ill.

Also, doesn’t the dad look a bit like comedian Milton Jones?

They look so pale. It's really creepy, and I think when the truth emerges it will be pretty horrific. :shake head:
