Jesus...Jack.... that must have been horrendous.

I think could probably kill a terrified animal suffering and howling in pain and distress, but ONLY if getting it help in time to try and save it isn't a viable option.

To get a vet would have meant much suffering whilst waiting and it was an instinctive thing looking at the state of him that no vet was going to save him.
I feel I did the best thing.

You absolutely did, under those circumstances.

But jeez, I don't envy you...how can you get your head right again after something like that? Heartbreaking.

My wife drove me to the nearest pub to get me away from there.
I didn't want to go to friends I wanted to run.
She lashed me up with whiskey and said over and over more or less what you just said.
A friend had to bury the dog I couldn't do it.
Couldn't go in the shed and look at my friend lying there.

Aw that’s so sad. I’m so sorry.

Someone ran over our cat and broke her spine, he drove off. My mum and dad went out and the guy behind the car who ran her over stopped. There was nothing that could be done so that poor man had to do it. We were all distraught. Awful.

Yes of course I would, if we were starving then there is no choice and I would kill it too. Let's face it we'd eat insects if we were that hungry and I'm talking about everyone here

When I'd done the heavy door was more difficult to open than it should have been.
This phone box wasn't on a nice neat pavement but on a very rocky stone strewn surface in the middle of nowhere.
The frog was presumably trying to squeeze under the door.
Big fat pregnant one.
The door broke it's back and legs as it dragged the poor thing across the rough surface.
I picked up a boulder and finished the poor thing off.
Took about three days to get my daughter to understand why I did what I did.

I love frogs - such beautiful little animals.

It's not like it was now (I hope) but a lot of kids used to be really cruel to them in the past.

Beautiful?

Frogs that get turned into princes and princesses are beautiful. Frogs aren't, nor are toads...

A friend that you chained up?
It's sick reading the so called Dog lovers posting away happily ignoring that you frequently chained the dog up and tell you what a decent man you were to kill the dog with a shovel.
How many other dog owners chain their dogs up on here?

I saw the bit where he said he lived on a farm at the time. You can't have dogs just roaming round willy nilly on a farm

Dogs do need to be tethered at times for their own safety. However, prolonged tethering can, and often does, lead to aggressive behaviour - it should be avoided.

My own dogs are contained for periods in a large indoor dog pen - they are rarely if ever tethered.

Howdy GW.
You may not put yourself in a Stupid situation intentionally, it could be a airplane, boat or a car accident out in the wilds on holiday maybe where you have movement restrictions or losing blood and you need to survive hoping you will be rescued.

Have any of you stitched up any part of your body or anyone elses, could you do it, I bet you could when push came to shove, it become a no brainer.

It must have been hell on the Battleground for you.

having to rely on parcels from home with Tea Bags to make yourself a cuppa.

I have noticed this thread has AGAIN been destroyed INTENTIONALLY by the usual forum trolls.

It was going good until the pubs shut.
