I've been buying soya milk instead of dairy for a while now and the whole household have been happy to use it. Now, one of my lads has read that the oestrogen in it is not good for men so he has added coconut milk to the weekly shopping list and the other one wants almond milk. It's all starting to cost a bloody fortune.

There’s nothing to worry about with the oestrogen in soya milk!
I love both coconut and almond milk though, I shove them in smoothies instead of normal milk. I can’t quite get behind anything but cows milk on my weetabix though.

In smoothies the fruits dominate the flavour so you could probably get away with any type of milk.
In milkshakes the milk HAS to be one you really like, cos it doesn't have other strong ingredients to 'hide behind'.

Make sure not to buy waxed lemons.

Why? I don't put the peel in the water.

The peel gets into some other recipes though. And in G&T too.




Many years ago I used to grate it into cake mixtures and feel quite good about using 'fresh' ingredients instead of the grated stuff in little tubs at the back of the cupboard - if only I knew ATT!

Cool. I had a little one from IKEA, in a pot but it only lasted that year.
Wish I had a lemon and orange tree but we don't have the climate like you NZers.
