Poor guy :shake head: He looks like he lived in a whole world of pain.

Yes - he was the tallest verified human being whom ever lived at 8' 11.1".

The tallest 'natural' (non pathological) giant was the famous super-strongman Angus MacAskill at (apparently) 7' 9".

Incredible how much taller Robert was than anyone else in History.

I remember thinking wow when I first saw his picture along time ago in the Guinness Book of Records.

Zeng Jinlian at almost 8'2" was the tallest woman ever scientifically measured - the poor girl could not stand up straight because of a severely deformed spine and died at just 17 years of age. :shake head:

Wow just double-checked, and Robert has a few other people close to his height. It's a long time since I studied this stuff I can be wrong on forums and anywhere else, when it comes to hard facts.

The oldest person in History is interesting the fact that only 1 person ever has officially made it to 120! It is surprising there hasn't been others by now.

Yeah I'm 5'5 I think it's average height

Me too. I think I used to have 1/2 inch more but we shrink as we age.

5’3” to 5’4” is average height for western women I think.

I got to meet Sandy Allen who at the time was the world’s tallest living woman. She was 7’7” and at 10 years old I was probably less than 5’, so she made quite an impression.

Not me in the pic obvs :gigglesnshit: , but I do have one of me and her in my album. She was at the Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum in Niagara Falls. There was also a statue of Robert Wadlow, the fella Keyser posted.

In her later years Sandy was unable to walk or stand much so she must’ve been in pain. Poor lady.

Glad you said it isn't you in the pic, I was about to say I'm sure you look so much better these days.

The tallest and largest person I ever met was Geoff Capes in his heyday. Massive!

Being too tall though(record breaking tall) usually leads to a short life with poor mobility. As some of the recent posts in this thread show.

Sandy was 53 when she died, so yeah, gigantism takes its toll.
