Health questions to Rollup & Star

did you lose much weight and/or body fat with your low carb eating as well as sort out your diabetes & keep it off long term, or is the whole low carb weight loss just a temporary thing?

Hi there guest
I lost over 21/2 stone on the low carb & high fat diet. Plus my sugar levels went down to 38 from over 60
The thing with low carb is that you cut out all the crap, it’s hard work but you supplement the low carbing by
eating things that are high in fat, because the fat will fill you up.
It is surprising what you think is healthy, which is in fact very high in sugar, and for a diabetic that’s not good
Jack is the master at all things high in fat and he has reversed his diabetes now.
Just make sure that you keep up with your fibre.

I have had the odd blip were you crave for something sweet, and you can as long as you don’t make it
part of your diet again.
Hope I was of some help to you, Guesty :smilin:

Weight loss is basically calories in vs calories out no matter what you eat. Low carb means you’re restricted in what you can eat, so you’re cutting out a lot of high calorie junk foods straight off.
I think I read people often up their protein intake when switching to keto, which is more filling and will prevent snacking too.

Counting calories has been proven to be a waste of time.
Low carb doesn't restrict you much.
The high fat is misleading as really it's what people in the fifties and sixties would have considered normal fat before industrial processes in the early seventies started removing fat smemi skimmed skimmed no fat etc.
They replaced the fat with sugar in most instances and as the food becomes ever more processed and sugared the rise in diabetes can mirror this on a graph.
The fat doesn't just fill you up it provides energy in place of the carbs.
Pasta rice and spuds are the most common carbs to cut out straight away that's the difficult bit.
But .... there's a way round that.
Cook the pasta and then chill and recook and it is no longer a high count carb but a resistant starch .... same with spuds and rice.
If you set aside say a Saturday morning to cook these things and then bag or bor box them and bung in the freezer for use through the week.
I fry the mash and now prefer it that way.
Recooked pasta and rice taste just fine.
Obviously sugar has to go.
Easily replaced with sweeteners but these should be phased out too so as to retrain your taste buds.
Snacks should be nuts pork scratchings tinned fish fruit.
If the fruit ends in berry you can eat loads.
Full fat milk full fat yoghurt lots of coconut oil must be virgin as the other stuff is for the bathroom cabinet not the kitchen.
A good breakfast which sounds odd is bulletproof coffee.
It's whatever kind of coffee you prefer in my case instant with a tablespoon of unsalted butter stirred in.
Tastes just like a creamy coffee and fills you up for hours and give you a very strong mental lift that's almost illegal.
Eat lots of fresh cream and butter.

I haven't cured my T2 but I have put it on hold.
If I get too carried away with being normal the meter readings will let me know.
The last two weeks I lost control of my sugar levels but that was due to an infection.
I sliced my finger it became infected and infections raise your blood sugars.

Who bothers to count calories? Just cut down drastically on carbs and eat tasty foods high in fat so you don’t crave the carbs.

I dont think the low carb diet would work unless you did the high fat with it
Because after a few hrs you will have a sugar crash and that’s when you want the carbs & the sugar, but
by supplementing the high fat you can combat your cravings for sugar & Carbs.
