1 year/2 years will be no big deal for most living until 85 instead of 87 for example, just wouldn't worry too many people enough. Quality of life may already be waning a fair bit anyway.

If they want to make people think more

they'll have to come up with something like it'll take 10 years off your life.

At 13 years old and quite ill in Guys Hospital I was given a small can of Mackeson Stout everyday by the nurses and made to drink it.

You saying about that reminded me when we used to go in a pub years ago. The landlord used to bring his wife (who was quite old and had something wrong with her) down for her daily bottle of Mackeson Stout. She would sit there staring at us while sipping it and keep smacking her lips, with this Mackeson moustache. It wasn't a pleasant sight to behold.

We had a music teacher visit once a week to give us piano lessons at home. The lessons did not come cheap and whenever he got up to leave he'd always pointedly stare at the drinks cabinet. That was dad's cue to pour him a drink. Became a ritual. He lived to a ripe old age tho.
