I'd put aside £50k for a holiday and stuff.

The rest I would invest in low risk investments and a decent BTL property. That should generate an income of about £50k per year without touching the capital. I would probably re-invest most of that back into the investment portfolio.

I'd still work in the job I do and consider my position after 5 years.

I had around half a million once - just spent it on sodall with few regrets. Poor as a church mouse again but health and love are far more important.

There's a derelict old school right opposite my house.
I'd love to buy it off the council, turn part of it into a living space and then turn the rest of it into a sort of "community workshop" where people could monkey around fixing cars, doing DIY and other Arts & Crafts stuff.

Admittedly, the idea came from a selfish position, where I figure that part of the building would make a superb workshop, but I like the idea of making it available so people have somewhere they could go to learn some practical skills and then put them to use.
