Someone on the run from a wife or family private detective .... doesn't always mean if you're on the run it's from the law.
If he was dealing in precious metals and or precious stones I don't think he'd advertise it if on the run but it is a business renowned for cash and secrecy.
He might have had someone over big time in that line and has to be careful.
