No you are not, I know lots of people who keep bread in the fridge, even though I thought it was odd. Even my mum keeps it in the fridge.
That is very odd and would dry out the bread very quickly!
Bread is best kept in a sealed metal tin (bread bin)

I think it's quite common in hotter countries* - or countries where it is sometimes fairly humid - to store bread in the fridge in order to stop it getting mouldy.
*That doesn't apply here in Scotland of course.
