Unfortunately you can't use London as a base model for typical buses in the UK. Many of the buses around here haven't even got destination boards (visual announcements) inside, let alone card readers (contactless, Oyster equivalents). London (public ownership - gets the investment), rest of the UK (private ownership - doesn't necessarily get the investment).

Many buses here don't run at night at all, let alone at 10-15 minute frequencies like night buses in London after midnight. The frequency of buses in Luton is somewhat understandable, but IMO there is no excuse for the lack of modern technology like card readers, free wifi, audio/visual announcements etc. Also, many of the bus stops haven't got shelters or visual arrival boards. We're talking about a town of 200,000 people here (if you include Dunstable and Houghton Regis), not some small village in the middle of nowhere.

London being the capital, generally gets the lion's share of any investment whether it be rail, bus or any other form of public transport.

They should invest more, mind you all the latest techniques & you still have rude people. Shame there isn't a gadget to remove them
