Sunday shopping hours

Sunday shopping hours

Postby DogsSupporter » Sun Aug 19, 2018 9:04 am

Does it tick you off that major stores, shops are only allowed to trade for 6 hours on a Sunday?

The internet is killing off stores and the UK has the highest online shopping figures per head in the world.

So it is about time shops were allowed to open and close as they wished.

My dad works Tuesaday to Saturday nights and by the time he gets out of bed about 3/4pm on a Sunday the shops are closed.

Unless he’s working 16 hr days, he can go shopping on days other than Sunday. I think it’s nice that there’s one day a week that nearly everyone can have dinner together.

Yes Hobbs.

Nucks, with almost everyone I know, hardly anyone works other than me and my family and everyone is spilt up on their 4/5th partner.

People must be offered a choice as we are not all Christians, Muslimes, etc.

One day a week with the rat race switched off has to be good for the ind. Has to be good for the environment.
There's online shopping as well as 24 hour shopping 6 days a week.
I think Saturday and Sunday closed down would be even better.

My grandparents fought wars to make Britain free, freedom of choice. Shops, larger shops must be given the choice to open longer hours on a Sunday.

Even the DWP people and their contractors work Sundays, EG to watch those that falsely claim benefits. NHS, police, well all of the emergency services, hotel industry, airline, airport works, traffic wardens, etc work usual hours of 8 hours plus on a Sunday as well as many factory workers that produce, pack food, so why not shops.

Btw, if it was you that posted on CM on the cry babies thread then  :pmsl:

I didn't say people shouldn't work.
It would be nice if only small businesses were allowed to open on Sunday.
Breathing space for the environment.
Opportunity for small businesses.
You'd survive.
Seriously you'd survive without the endless clamour of consumerism.
My dad was in the war and reckoned it was a racket a big lie.
Millions thought like him too.
What did he fight for?
He was ordered to by his owners or face jail.
My grandad was the same.

What about those that work Monday to Friday? When do we get our shopping done? Somethings are not practical to buy on line. Saturday close down is not practical.

What shift does your dad work that he’s not out of bed until 3-4 on Sunday? If shopping on Sunday is important for him, he could alter his sleep somewhat to fit it in?

I doubt they work 24 hrs a day but the shops are open 24 hrs a day.
Why do you think you'll die if the shops closed on Sunday.
Closing Saturday too wasn't meant to be taken seriously.

Many people work permanent 12 hour night shifts in the food industry. During the daytime dad is asleep and Saturdays, when he is not going to work Saturday night, he needs to sleep a good 8 hours then up, wash and dress, rest and enjoy, most of the time he works Tue to Sat nights, so he does need the freedom to have more shops open for longer. Dad is not savvy with the internet ie buying online.

The shops here are open way longer than 6 hours on a sunday.
