Doing anything out of your comfort zone can feel worrying but I suppose as adults we do those things as and when we’re ready to, kids have less choice, they have to go to those new classes!
Nothing wrong with being cautious and knowing your own limits but pushing ourselves can be very liberating too.

Remove key and clean key and area below it. Refit and test.

Failing that, new keyboards can be fitted to laptops fairly easily.

My boy started his A levels at 6th Form this week. History, Politics, Law and Media. Very proud (& ever so slightly jealous) mum.
