Why only religion, why not other forms of manipulation?

It’s the one that irritates me the most and manipulates hundreds and thousands of people in killing in its name or being judgemental in its name. I don’t have any objection to people having a belief in God, it’s comforting for many but object when it is used to control others.
However, any form on manipulation can go in too

It can also manipulate people into doing good things, saving people, caring for their fellow human etc.

Yes but you do not need to be religious to do that

Some people do need religion to do that. Also, many turn to religion to help them get through tough times.
