Our tree goes up no earlier than a week before Christmas. My kids hated going out to school and leaving the tree in the house, no sure what will happen this year because one of them works now. Maybe the 18th but that feels early. No Christmas songs til tree goes up and we have mince pies and mulled wine and open our box of roses or quality street, it’s our favourite part of the whole time. It usually involves a fight about the lights not being even enough, it’s changed because the kids have a drink with us now but we love putting our tree up together, their girlfriends want in on the act but the kids said eh...no.

White lights on tree, no tinsel, and hardly any decorations about the house just candles and some stars hanging off the end of the curtain rods.

Top of the tree? Fairy or a Big Star?

Do you like a decent fairy Raven?

Or an indecent one for that matter?

Those trees are hideous, they look like something fashioned out of skinning a family of Elmo dolls.

It’s probably tough as the First Lady, doing something bold will draw criticism and bring traditional will be seen as boring.
