Put a ring on it

A right load of bollocks...

Put a ring on it

Is it fair to accuse someone of cheating if you aren’t married?

Isn’t that what marriage is for? To commit to that one person?

Yes of course it is :ooer: ..... if you’re in a relationship you’re committed, married or not! :dunno:

I guess you do eventually when you’re that committed.... doesn’t give you the right to cheat beforehand though!..... and even if you never marry you’re still committed to each other, so it’s wrong on all counts!

I doubt a serial cheater is going to stop just because they have a marriage certificate. At least when you're in a committed relationship first and you see it, you can end it without all the legal hassle.

I agree it’s wrong to cheat if you’re in a relationship but very often one person is more committed than the other. There’s no confusion with marriage, you’re both saying, ‘I want to commit to only you.’

A serial cheater? Is that like a sex addict? They have a recognised illness don’t they?

I’m not talking about them.

God no! I don’t see the point of committing and cheating.

But aren’t they less likely to cheat if they’re married?

They probably intend to be faithful though. There’s the difference. They’ve made a statement/vow which is harder to break than no vow.

The default assumption is always monogamy; the marriage certificate just makes it official and binding.

We got married to simplify our tax and and other financial affairs.

A week or so ago we were on the phone to HMRC who asked as a security question when we were married - neither of us knew and Mrs Az had to hastily rifle through a drawer of papers in order to find our wedding certificate.
