Hahaha Hi dis.
Being a parent is the hardest job in the world imo.
But if things go right (& let's face it, there's an element of luck involved here) it's the best 'investment' you will ever make.
After 18 years, they become independent, resourceful, socially aware human beings and you keep pinching yourself that you were able to create such a creature, from scratch.
Surely you don't refer to offspring as creatures.
Context is everything.
Instead of zero-ing in on one word and lifting it out of context, look at the whole phrase instead.
"created a creature"Both words have similar spelling, similar meaning. similar etymological origin. Harmless turn of phrase.
I think if a parent said to a child "You are a
creature of habit, you like your
creature comforts", the kid would smile & accept the comment in the spirit it was given.
Sorry, I still stand by what I said. Created a creature, a bit of a no no IMO. The other two references, OK.
Just give it a rest, you're just being pedantic for the heck of it. Creature is perfectly acceptable when when it's not meant to demean.
This is OK
He/she is a lovely, warm, beautiful, sweet, gorgeous...creature
This is not OK
He/she's an ugly, grotesque, weird, horrible... creature
Get it?
