I would have thought the same but for his work and the woman this morning looking for him - she seemed quite concerned.

What is the womans connection to him? Family? Lover? Scorned lover?

Perhaps he shagged the wrong wife?

He was apparently employed at the local pub and thought a lot of himself, I've met that sort.
