...disappointingly mundane.

He did a flit without informing his landlord. He was spotted in Carlisle where he now lives and when questioned claimed he didn't know he had to give notice etc. Walked out of his job too it seems.

"mundane" is the only good way for this story to end!
It's a truly happy ending as befits a good Christmas tale.

An 'interesting' ending would've had to be a grisly one - like his body found trussed up in a suitcase somewhere like that poor MI5 bloke.
Or nestling at the bottom of river Derwent with 'concrete boots' on.

He sounds like a bit of a loveable rogue, I like that. Gives him a bit of an edge. Bland goody 2 shoes types don't have an edge.
