Take care of yourself - be one of the last to go.

Sounds like a plan :smilin:

Which promise?

"When the British people speak, their voice will be respected, not ignored. If the British people vote to leave, then we will leave. There'll not be another renegotiation and another referendum." - The prime minister, 2015.

Cheers. So many promises are made to voters that are later broken so I wasn't sure which one was meant

God,tinned peaches... it would be absolute purgatory. And I'm only half joking

You must have had tinned fruit, otherwise you wouldn't have had any fruit when you were a kiddie. :ooer:

Oh do fuck off you moron, we grow, apples, pears, berries, currants, rhubarb, plums, gages, damsons, quince, medlars, peaches, nectarines, figs and grapes in this country FFS.

All year round? :again?:

No not all year but that had nothing to do with the EU we (the world) just learnt/ discovered a new technique for storing fruits and veg. All countries have a growing season. We had other fruits from many countries before the EU but only in that country's growing season.

I'm mostly getting readings around 10 -12 these days.
The main consideration is the blood tests that give a better overall picture and I am faring well in those according to the doc.

right, now carry on with the quotes.

I think I have quoted too much about my diabetes, I don't want to bore the pants off everyone BC. :smilin:

Genuine question - how do the figures you talk about relate to the figures of the 3/6 monthly check that Type 2s like me have. Mine is currently 52- but we are talking different things here, yes?

The doc tells me my blood tests, which you are referring to are fine.
The pinprick blood meter daily basis machine I use gives me figures between 10 and 12, with 7 being normal for human beings, but I myself have had readings of 36 and 47 in the past when I was first diagnosed.
I guess the medication and laying off the booze most days of the week are working but I would like to get my levels lower so I am off to rejoin a gym soon as exercise will be very helpful.
Incidentally any new doctors I meet don't believe I have type 2 because I do not look like a type 2 --whatever that means -- my pancreas is fucked from countless hospitalisations in the past suffering from pancreatitis.
My pancreas does produce insulin but not enough, hence the docs call me a pancreatic diabetic.

4-5 mmols is normal, what is your yearly target?

Interesting question Stooo, and the answer is I don't have one -- I just take the pills and do (mostly) what the doctor tells me too.
I am not happy about my condition and apart from doing as asked by the doctor i tend not to dwell on it and pretend I am not suffering at all - something that is hard to do with the amount of pills I have to take daily.
I have only had one occasion when the doctor pulled me up about one of the regular blood tests results and that was after a festive period during which I ate stuff I really shouldn't have.

Most surgeries and GP's are fairly ignorant about T2.
Seriously.
When I said there eat well plate was nonsense and I was going for low carb there was uproar.
Then they started to see the results
Then they admitted I was the only T2 at the surgery doing well while the rest went on ever more medication.
Yes I said because the eatwell plate is nonsense.
The NHS have just recently added low carb to the advice for T2's.

Have a word, your diabetic team should be encouraging you to get those levels down.

Oh yes indeed, when first diagnosed I had a nurse give me lots of advice on diet in my own Surgery, I was then sent to a specialist diabetic unit in Hammersmith and they gave me wholly contradictory advice? I then looked online and became even more confused.
I have therefore opted to avoid sweets, cakes, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream etc etc and I eat quite bland food --meat and vegetables, eggs and cereals, crackers and cheese and other boring crap but very little fruit.
Having loved Black Forest Gateau and other similar foods it is a real pain tbh but such is life.
