He always came across as a warm, generous of spirit comic.

No, he's still very much alive, thank God. He admitted not wanting to do live performances anymore, and I can't say I blame him, as his health is deteriorating. He went online ranting a few weeks back, then came back and apologised, saying he is dying no time soon - typical Billy!

What’s he supposed to represent?

Still well enough to rant then. I’ll have to look that up.

He's supposed to be based on the landlord of a flat that Reece Sheersmith & Steve Pemberton lived in.

I really found Pamela Stephenson annoying back in the day but reading how she has supported and cared for Billy after his diagnosis puts her in a whole different light

That Dave is a bloody attention seeker!!!! :shoot:

A bit

Strange what people find funny.
I prefer Alan Patridge humour.

I'd say that about 'The Office' and 'The Royle Family'.

As for TLoG, it's alright. One thing in particular I found amusing is that Royston Vasey is actually the real name of Roy 'Chubby' Brown.

That Aviva car advert about the horse and man crossing the road must have got its inspiration from TLoG where there is a costumed horse running down the middle of the road in the opening sequence.

The American version of The Office is funnier. Never really liked Alan Partridge.

I don’t get why Morcambe and Wise are considered comedy greats either. Everyone always bangs on about them but I just don’t find them funny. :dunno:

+1. Going back to The Office, Ricky Gervais himself. Victoria Wood, never really gelled with her humour.

I'm more into humour by people such as Chris Rock, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Lee Mack, Lee Evans etc.

My most significant take from this is "Spirit doesn't negotiate with Mind."
