Yes. Either that or they don't want to do it.

Women don’t fish because it’s flipping boring!

Were talking about commercial sea fishing here (if it wasn't obvious), not sticking a rod out onto a river or lake.

Watch Deadliest Catch and you'll get the idea.

It wasn’t obvious. Women just can’t sit for hours doing nothing at all, unless we’re ill.
Our minds are too busy for that.

We were talking about jobs at the time. That should have been clue enough.

it's fucking biology, why the hell should it affect your career

if a heterosexual couple decide to have children who gives birth isn't up for debate, so why should only one partner be penalised in the workplace?

Bollocks. We’ve already got equality in spades in the UK. Live in Saudi and you’d have a point.

Why not let the women go back to work and the man stay at home and look after the baby. Problem solved and fairly simple really. The man can then moan about being paid less over that period of time and make up the same inaccurate assumptions that it must be because of their gender and not the free choices they’ve made.

There really is nothing to stop any woman doing and earning whatever they want.

nobody mentioned who cares for the child once it is born :ooer:

the original quote said giving birth is a choice, well no there is no choice about who gives birth in the partnership

nice to see you've completely missed the point though :smilin:

There is a choice in most places not to give birth in the first place. It's not compulsory to have children.

But not in WHO gives birth, which was the point.

Oh.

I do think men and women are drawn to different jobs because of their inane temperament, not just because of what society expects of them.
But no one should be told they aren’t suited to doing something because of their sex, that’s for the individual to decide.

Until the human race become hermaphrodites that isn't going to change.

What do women want out of this? Take time off work on full pay while on maternity leave but not actually doing any work for their employer? Fill in some blanks here.

Men don't pack or unpack for trips, that's for sure.

Just back from a trip today and have decided for the first time to pay a lady (well, let him pay) to do all the holiday laundry.

Yes it is. It’s exactly what’s being talked about no matter how hard you or Hobbs try to ignore the points and go on about but but women have babies, as if anyone needs that explained.

It comes to something when JRA has grasped it yet you’re still floundering.

let me remind you of the original quote that was being discussed

........ Any perceived difference in earnings is down to life choices like giving birth....

so spin it how you like with your agenda driven bollocks, the only point I have discussed is that childbirth is down to biology, biology we have no choice over, and that women are disadvantaged in the workplace purely by that biology

who cares for any fictitious child is an absolute irrelevance

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/ ... ant-report

The EHRC warned that many businesses were “decades behind the law” after a YouGov survey of 1,106 senior decision-makers revealed that a third of those working for private companies thought it was reasonable to ask a woman about her plans to have children in the future during the recruitment process,

Carole Easton, the chief executive of the Young Women’s Trust, said the research supported findings from the charity that revealed that one in seven employers would be reluctant to hire a woman they thought would go on to have children and 39% of young mums had been illegally asked about how being a mother would affect their ability to work

It's a bit like the scenario 'People decide to live near an active volcano and then complain when there is lava in their living room'.

In other words, in the vast majority of cases, nobody is forced to have children. It's a lifestyle choice.

Not while the Earth's population is rising. There are enough of us here already. This is already putting pressure on Earth's resources such endangered/extinct animals, over-fishing, air and sea pollution etc. etc.

While birth rates are greater than death rates we are heading for trouble.

Fortunately the growth rate is falling and is predicted to be close to zero by the end of this century.
