Indeed everything I have seen so far suggests that the rainfall this month is a long way from being unprecedented, even in the worst hot areas.

While the Met Office have been pointing this month to being one of the wettest Februaries on record, we need to bear in mind that February is typically the driest month of the autumn/winter period.

I await with interest the actual numbers, but strongly suspect that this month’s rainfall will be well down the list of all months.

Indeed the Met Office have been strangely reticent about actual numbers. They are usually keen to broadcast news of records, either broken or close to broken. Instead this month all we keep hearing is that a “month’s worth of rain has fallen in a day” somewhere. As we know this is a common event every year somewhere or another. Such a claim is no more than a PR stunt.

RECORD COLD, DEADLY BLIZZARDS, AND 6 METER (20 FOOT) SNOW DRIFTS BATTER TURKEY, SYRIA, IRAN, AND IRAQ
Thousands of vehicles have been buried under monster mounds of snow; people are missing, presumed frozen; water and power supplies have been cut-off; and drifts as high as 6 meters have blocked key passes — welcome, Middle East, to the GRAND SOLAR MINIMUM…

Sad day.
I have to make arrangements to go to Pompey for the funeral.

You didn't go then?

Is wood a clean fuel?
Yes and no.
When you ask someone what is a tree made from they usually say water and soil nutrients forgetting the tree is a massive store of CO2.
The tree is made from sun rain nutrients and atmospheric gasses especially CO2.
No CO2 no life on earth.
I have logs burning in my living room at the moment.
These particular logs are oak and local from a tree blown down about four years ago.
If people like me didn't burn that tree what would happen?
The tree would have no commercial value and would be left to rot.
A tree releases CO2 when burnt but deadly methane when allowed to rot.
Nature is finely balanced.

I'm a child of the 50's when coal really was king.
Every house school shop factory railway station bus station cinema pub club dance hall power station hospital you name it was run on coal for hot water and heating.
The buildings were black with the soot.
The towns were black with soot.
Our mothers would check which way the wind was blowing before hanging the washing out to lessen the chances of it getting soot on it.
We burned that coal in the billions of tons for a hundred and fifty years and in the last hundred years started burning oil too and then in the last fifty burnt less coal and ever more natural gas and the global average temperature has risen by less than one degree C and we're told to panic.
There have been bigger rises and falls throughout history and in much shorter periods ..... what caused those changes?
The picture below is more or less a picture from my childhood days and when Britain was the factory of the world it was like this all over the place .....

All that CO2 in the ground came from the sky in the first place!

Temperature in Antarctica was a balmy 54 degrees Fahrenheit when dinosaurs roamed the Earth 90 million years ago, traces of ancient rainforest found near the South Pole reveal

This was of course before unleaded petrol, catalytic converters and DPF's became mandatory...

So serious in fact that there are still massive amounts of ice left behind to this day including glaciers in Europe America and Asia but the alarmists seem to have some ideal temperature they'd like to set the worlds temperature at ... what that is and how they get to it and stay there .... :dunno:

'Record-breaking' ozone hole has formed over the Arctic due to a 'polar vortex' caused by freezing temperatures in the atmosphere

Image
These images show the ozone over the Arctic in April and March, revealing the lower than usual levels recorded by Copernicus satellites

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech ... rctic.html

They told us that the hole was due to things like canned sprays, fridge gasses and air con gasses which have now been changed (a long time back) and the hole had repaired itself.

What's going on then? :dunno:

The current warm period is weather not climate.
Want proof?
Watch the BBC weather forecast.
When it shows the upper part of the earth's globe you'll see cold blue east west and north of the British isles .... it is in fact below average for the time of year.
Then you'll see a huge plume of warm air that is blowing up from the mediterranean ... cooling off parts of Africa and warming up the UK.
The presenter will even tell you about this warm air being drawn up from the equator .... it doesn't cover the whole northern hemisphere if it did that would be climate change or global warming but no just a localised weather event.
The global average temperature still hasn't changed much from the less than one degree C over the last 150 years of burning billions of tons of fossil fuel and the grandchildren are still playing on the exact sea walls rocks sand dunes beaches that I did almost 70 years ago without the slightest change .... or would be doing if they were allowed out!

No offence old Beans, both of you, Antartica was once part of Pangea and of course it was warmer and full of bloody dinosaurs because it was in a different region of earth ffs!!!

Continental drift had it break away and head south and it got progressively colder, but even 65 Million years ago at the time of the demise of the Dinosaurs it was still teeming with flora and fauna.

Why try to use such wholly incorrect bull to prove a point? It just destroys any other arguments you put forward, which might in fact be true, because you lose your credibility.

Victoria Falls dries to a trickle after worst drought in a century
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/ ... -a-century

The BBC were even worse with their bullshit about climate change being responsible or .... maybe it was just a mistake through lack of any research of any kind like simply asking the locals about what's going on?
Better story though if it can be used for the alarmist agenda.
